Bloxom, Retired Pastor Dies

Jack Dempsey Bloxom, 90 of Conway, passed away Aug. 14. After surrendering to the gospel ministry as a high school student, he attended Jacksonville Baptist College, where he met and later married the late Mary Jane (Janie) Strong in 1953.
He served as a pastor of churches in both Texas and Arkansas for the majority of six decades, including Central, Conway and Pleasant Valley, Wooster. He also enjoyed years of service with Dale Carnegie, organizing and teaching classes. He later worked for Citizens Fidelity Insurance associated with Roller Funeral Homes, until he retired at the age of 83.
Survivors include two sons: Andy (Glenda) of Benton; Clay (Cindy) of Merritt Island, Fla.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A brief service will be conducted by Rev. Jimmy Henry at the Gazebo at Pinecrest Memorial Park at 1 p.m. on Aug. 19, followed by interment. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial gift to the Maggie Chandler Endowed Scholarship Fund at Central Baptist College, 1501 College Avenue, Conway, Ark. 72034.
