CBC PROFILE: Employees Honored at 2023 Employee Appreciation and Awards Luncheon

Central Baptist College honored faculty and staff for their service to CBC at the annual Employee Appreciation and Awards Luncheon on April 10. Below is a list of employees who were honored:
• Chair of Math & Science Department and Professor of Science Judy Gabbard for 55 years of service.
• President Terry Kimbrow for 30 years of service.
• Registrar Stacy Jordan for 25 years of service.
• Professor of Chemistry & Chair of Natural and Health Sciences Dr. Elizabeth Gomez, Assistant Professor of Psychology & Social Services Oscar Gomez, Education Coordinator for PACE & Online Studies and Faculty Support Specialist Brenda Moore for 15 years of service.
• Disability Support Services Coordinator Paula Bender; Professor of Kinesiology, Chair of the Kinesiology Department and Head Baseball Coach Dr. Aaron Brister; VA Certification Official Lori Lee; Associate Professor of Biology Dr. Miseon Seong; and Assistant Professor of Communication Chad Smith for 10 years of service.
• PACE Enrollment Counselor at Camp Robinson Patrick Jacob and Student Services Activities Coordinator Blake Pittman for five years of service.
• Personal Admissions Officer Ryan Guyton, Registrar Services Coordinator Jennifer Jameson, Head Men’s Basketball Coach Sam Kohnke and Maintenance Staff Trey Sims for three years of service.
Three individuals were selected for the President’s Awards. The recipients were: Institutional Research Analyst Gwenda Williams for Behind the Scenes; Director of Physical Plant Byron Baker for Dedication and Senior Accountant Rhonda Shipp for Professionalism.
Two other awards were handed out at the luncheon: The CARE (Creating a Rare Experience) Award went to Chair of Math & Science Department and Professor of Science Judy Gabbard. The Fred Award was presented to Tonya Hammontree for her exemplification of the four principles of being a Fred, which are making a difference each day, having a heart for people, changing ordinary moments into memorable ones and leading by example.
The 2023 Outstanding Faculty Awards were presented by Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Gary McAllister. Business Department Chair & Professor of Business Dr. Beth Cantrell received the Outstanding Faculty Leadership Award and Assistant Professor of Mathematics Amber Strain received the Outstanding Faculty Award.
The 2023 Employee of the Year award was also announced. Nominated by letter or e-mail to the president, the employee was required to meet the following criteria: loyalty to the institution, demonstration of a good work ethic, positive attitude toward fellow workers and students and professionalism. The award went to Director of Information Technology Jerry Dowdy.
