CBC PROFILE: God's Big Plan

Terry Kimbrow

Chapel speakers for the upcoming fall 2024 semester have been announced, and we are looking forward to a great semester of godly men and women declaring God’s truth to our student body.

Our theme this year is “God’s Big Plan.” The theme verse is Jer. 29:11 (NIV), “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

This is a familiar verse to Christians and is one of the most quoted of the Old Testament. The book of Jeremiah was written to the Jews in exile in Babylon, and this verse is a specific promise given to a specific people at a specific time. The context is important, but it does still have application to all Christians today.

In a world where hope seems to be lacking, we need to be reminded that God has a plan and purpose for our lives. The Bible is a book of hope, and God is our only hope!

The first chapel service will be on Aug. 28, and our last service will be on Dec. 4, ending with the Christmas performance by CBC’s Fine Arts Department. All the scheduled upcoming speakers are listed below:

      • Aug. 28 — President Terry Kimbrow

      • Sept. 4 — Dr. Martin Jameson

      • Sept. 11 — Angela Rice

      • Sept. 18 — Lori Cline

      • Sept. 25 — Jeff Swart

      • Oct. 2 — Dr. Clif Johnson

      • Oct. 9 — Dr. Steve Crawley

      • Oct. 16 — Dr. Travis Sellers

      • Oct. 23 — Jason Kimbrow

      • Oct. 30 — Charles Costa

      • Nov. 6 — Kirk Shelton

      • Nov. 13 — Ryan Anderson

      • Nov. 20 — Dr. Aaron Brister

      • Dec. 4 — CBC Fine Arts Christmas Program

We are excited to have each of these speakers at chapel, and we look forward to hearing what they will share from God’s Word, making application of this verse to our lives. God truly does have a “Big Plan” for everyone, and it is our greatest desire that all students at CBC put their faith in Him and find comfort and purpose in the plan He has for their lives.
