CBC PROFILE: True "Thanksgiving to God" (2 Cor. 9:11)
BT Staff
By Duffy Guyton, Director of Church Relations
As the faculty and staff reconvened for the annual pre-fall semester meeting on Monday, Aug. 8, President Kimbrow encouraged everyone regarding God’s powerful truth in Eph. 3:20 that God “is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” This personally encouraged me as I reflected on the promise that God is a provider and supplier.
In the Apostle Paul’s second letter to the church of Corinth (II Cor. 9:12), he not only shared his gratitude for their sincere generosity, but he expressed that their selfless love of provision “is abounding through many thanksgivings to God.” The recipients were simply having a reason to genuinely thank the Heavenly Father for Him meeting their needs through the church in Corinth. Likewise, from your faithful and consistent years of demonstrating His love for your college, it produces in all of us authentic worship to the Lord.
As a reminder, 2022 CBC Day is Sunday, Sept. 11. Even though many churches have committed to participate in CBC Day and to pray for the students, faculty, staff and incredible alumni on this day, there is still time to sign up. To register, please visit cbc.edu/alumni_friends/cbc_day. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call, text or email me at (501) 269-6784 or dguyton@cbc.edu.
To better accommodate your schedule, we are also available to share on a Sunday night or during a mid-week service. We gladly welcome invitations to share at other ministerial events and BMA of Arkansas events such as WMA and Brotherhood meetings.
CBC Day contributions will benefit the CBC Annual Fund that supports, among other things, the ministry tuition grant, academic and performance scholarships, spiritual life programs and the development of new academic programs. We are humbly asking you to set aside Sept. 11 (or another day this fall or even a day in the spring) to devote a specific part of the morning worship service to a special called time of prayer for CBC, taking a one-time offering for our annual fund program, “Gifts that Transform,” and/or making a pledge to give additional offerings over the 12 months to follow.
God’s Word edifies us in II Cor. 9:15, “thanks be to God for His inexpressible gift.” We must rest in knowing that the Heavenly Father’s grace, mercy and provisions are indescribable and beyond description. As George Muller stated, “The Christian should never worry about tomorrow or give sparingly because of a possible future need; only the present moment is ours to serve the Lord.” Thank you for your willingness to participate in CBC Day on Sept. 11. We are grateful for you!
