AMC All-Academic Team Selections

• St. Louis, Mo., May 17 — The American Midwest Conference (AMC) released their final set of Academic All-Conference selections. Fifty CBC student-athletes from the sports of baseball, softball, men’s & women’s golf and men’s track & field were selected to the Academic All-Conference teams after posting GPAs above a 3.0 in the Spring semester. The following student-athletes were selected:

• Baseball — Ben Slate, Cole Edwards, Steven Stewart, Wille Baez, Caleb Muns, Danilo Taborda, Ben Stevens, Kyle Bass, Caleb Sollars, Gram Middleton, Austin Teal, Dominick McBride, Ruben Hernandez, Austin LeJeune, Ty Decker, Cayden Hunnicut and Phillip Drilling;

• Softball — Alex Jeter, Averie Ayers, Tobi Finley, Emily Cole, Caroline Byers, Hannah Work, Madi Spears, Jordyn Frederic, Savannah Sanford, Mallory Reynolds, Heather Hoffman, Victoria Lasker, Maggi Huddleston, Lauren Anderson, Gracie Keathley, Kristen Walderns, Mia Clark, Allie McWhorter, Reagan Oustad, Madalyn Tubbs, Katie Smith, Emma Golden and Mollie Johnson;

• Men’s Golf — Jakub Slapal, Emmanuel LaBeur and Travis Toebben;

• Women’s Golf — Alyssa Hagewood, Keeley Bulza, Abby Kirby, Brooklyn Adcock;

• Men’s Track & Field — Jadon Price, Josh Brown and Isaiah Stiger.

NFCA Freshman of the Year Finalist

• Louisville, Ky., May 18 — The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) awarded NAIA postseason honors, and a Central Baptist softball player was among the honorees. Savannah Sanford was one of six finalists selected by the NFCA for Freshman of the Year. Sanford had an outstanding season, batting .485 with four home runs, 31 RBIs, 13 doubles, a triple, 22 runs scored and a team-high 49 hits. She ranked first in the AMC in batting average, eighth in the conference in hits, fourth in doubles, tied for 10th in RBIs, second in on-base percentage at .532 and fifth in slugging at .752 while earning first-team All-AMC honors.
