Men’s Soccer
• Conway, Oct. 4 — Playing outside the American Midwest Conference (AMC) for the final time this season, CBC hosted the Bucs of Christian Brothers University at Centennial Soccer Park. CBC (8-2-2) got an early lead, was tied 1-1 at halftime and lost 2-1 to the NCAA Division II Bucs (7-4-2).
• Columbia, Mo., Oct. 9 — Looking to bounce back from a tough loss earlier this week, CBC took on the Cougars of Columbia College (CC) in an AMC contest at the R. Marvin Owens soccer field. CBC (8-3-2, 1-1-1 AMC) couldn’t muster much offense, trailing CC (5-3-3, 2-1 AMC) 1-0 at the half before falling 3-0.
Volleyball
• St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 8 — Playing on the road in the AMC for the first time this season, CBC was at UHSP Gymnasium for a tilt with the Eutectics of the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (UHSP) in St. Louis. CBC (3-11, 1-3 AMC) dominated the match and had a historic effort from Madeline Freeman to sweep UHSP (6-16, 0-5 AMC) by scores of 25-23, 25-13 and 25-19. Freeman recorded the first triple-double in program history tonight, notching 13 kills, 14 assists and 10 digs.
• Hannibal, Mo., Oct. 9 — Playing in their second AMC road match in as many days, CBC took on the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange inside the Mabee Sports Complex. CBC (3-12, 1-4 AMC) had more kills, aces and points than HLGU (6-18, 3-3 AMC) but lost in four sets by scores of 21-25, 18-25, 25-13 and 23-25.
• St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 10 — For the first time this season, CBC has the AMC athlete of the week, the AMC office announced in a release. Freshman Madeline Freeman was selected by the conference as the Attacker of the Week. Freeman had a historic weekend for the Mustangs, recording the first triple-double in program history in Friday night’s win over UHSP and following that up with her ninth double-double of the season on Saturday at Hannibal-LaGrange. For the weekend, she had 31 kills, an average of 4.43 per set, and hit .296.
Women’s Soccer
• Columbia, Mo., Oct. 9 — Playing their first AMC road match, CBC was at R. Marvin Owens Field to take on the Cougars of Columbia College. CBC (4-7-1, 1-2 AMC) couldn’t muster anything offensively, trailing 2-0 at halftime before losing 5-0 to CC (7-3-1, 3-0 AMC).
Cross Country
• Clarksville, Oct. 9 — A set of runners had personal best performances as CBC competed in the University of the Ozarks Invitational. Ashleigh Gross-Mitchell, Mackenzie Milligan and Jadon Price all set personal bests and Price’s time of 30:56.9 in the men’s 8K was the fifth fastest time ever recorded in an 8K since the cross-country program was started in 2016.
Women’s Golf
• Springfield, Mo., Oct. 10 — Opening their final tournament of the fall, CBC teed off at the Evangel Fall Invitational on the Stewart Golf Course. Alyssa Hagewood, Abby Kirby and Laney Crutchfield were the three competitors entered for CBC. Hagewood finished with a first-round 79 to put her in sixth place, four shots off the leader from Kansas Wesleyan. Kirby opened with 95 and Crutchfield posted an opening round 98.
Men’s Golf
• Springfield, Mo., Oct. 10 — Returning to the course for the first time in two weeks, CBC teed off in the first round of the Evangel Fall Invitational at the Bill and Payne Stewart Golf Course. CBC shot an opening round 303 to put themselves in second place, 15 shots off the leaders and hosts from Evangel. Individually, Kitsakon Jairak opened with a +4 74 to sit in a tie for third, 12 strokes off the lead. Jakub Slapal was next, one shot behind Jairak in a tie for fifth. Three other Mustangs, Paul Gomez, Suraprat Pareepart and Joaquin Ali each shot 77s to put them in a tie for eighth place.
