CBC SPORTS: Williams Has Career Game

Men’s Basketball

         • Conway, Dec. 12 — Playing their penultimate home game of the 2024 calendar year, #13 CBC hosted the Patriots of Mission University (MU) in an American Midwest Conference (AMC) game inside A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse. CBC (10-2, 4-0 AMC) used a strong offensive performance to race past MU (2-8, 1-3 AMC) 100-91. Wade Williams had a career night, leading the way with a career-high 26 points, 10 field goals made and 6 three-pointers, while also recording a career-high of 5 assists. Devin Foster also scored in double-figures with a career-high 17 points, while Sage Borbon and Jonas Carlisle both had 16 and Brian Alexander poured in 13 off the bench. The Mustangs had 17 threes, were plus-four (43-39) on the glass, and never trailed, leading by as many as 21 points with eight and a half minutes left in the first half.

         • St. Louis, Mo., Dec. 14 — In their final road game of the 2024 calendar year, #13 CBC faced the Harris-Stowe State Hornets (HSSU) in an AMC matchup at the Emerson Performance Center. CBC (11-2, 5-0 AMC) held a narrow lead of 44-42 at halftime before exploding for 53 second-half points in the second half, ultimately winning 97-81 against HSSU (4-9, 1-4 AMC). Sage Borbon led the Mustangs in scoring with 32 points, including 22 in the second half. This marked his second game this season with over 30 points. Wade Williams also finished in double figures with 15 points, while Jonas Carlisle added 14, Brian Alexander scored 11 off the bench and Gabe Johnson chipped in with 10. Carlisle topped the rebounding effort with nine boards, and Johnson recorded seven assists. The Mustangs’ offense was strong throughout the game, outshooting HSSU 56% to 44% from the field and outrebounding the Hornets 43-31.

         • St. Louis, Mo., Dec. 16 — For the third time this season, Sage Borbon has been named AMC offensive player of the week. Borbon led #13 CBC to a pair of AMC wins this week. He averaged 24 points, 5.5 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game in wins over Mission University and Harris-Stowe State. In the Dec. 12 game against Mission, he had 16 points, 7 assists and 3 rebounds in a 100-91 victory, followed by a 32-point, 7-rebound, 4-assist performance on Saturday at Harris-Stowe State.

Women’s Basketball

         • St. Louis, Mo. — Playing on the road for the final time in 2024, CBC faced the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State in an AMC contest at the Emerson Performance Center. CBC (5-5, 3-3 AMC) led after every quarter, defeating the Hornets (2-7, 1-5 AMC) 75-61. Balanced scoring was key for the Lady Mustangs, as five of the six players who played scored in double figures, led by Raigan Head with 19 points. Aliya Grotjohn recorded her first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Lydia York added 16 points, Tamara Christmas contributed 13 and Rhys Anderson scored 10. The Lady Mustangs dominated in every phase, outshooting HSSU 53% to 40% from the field, outrebounding the Hornets 41-28 and outscoring the Hornets 28-24 in the paint.

Wrestling

         • Bartlesville, Okla., Dec. 14 — Competing for the final time in 2024, CBC was on the mat today at the 918 Open. Both competing at 157 pounds, Isaiah Hendrix finished the day 0-2, with both losses by fall, and Tyler Cabral won his first match by fall but lost the next two, one by fall and the other by decision.
