CBC SPORTS: Women's Golf Two Shots Behind Tourney Leaders

Men’s Soccer
• Conway, Sept. 21 — With American Midwest Conference (AMC) play set to begin this weekend, CBC played their final tune-up game at Centennial Soccer Park against the Patriots of Baptist Bible College (BBC). CBC (3-6) scored four goals in each half and cruised to an 8-1 win over BBC (0-6).
• St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 23 — Opening the AMC portion of their schedule, CBC took on the Hornets of Harris-Stowe State (HSSU) at Hornets Soccer Field. CBC (3-6-1, 0-0-1 AMC) trailed 1-0 at halftime but got a second half penalty kick to level the score at one all with HSSU (5-2-1, 0-0-1 AMC).
• St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 25 — The AMC announced their men’s soccer athletes of the week and CBC Mustang Daniel Pinkney earned Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career. Pinkney, a senior from Liverpool, England, scored three goals and assisted on another goal in a 1-0-1 week for the Mustangs. He scored twice and had an assist in an 8-1 win over Baptist Bible this past Thursday before scoring the tying goal on a penalty kick in a 1-1 draw with Harris-Stowe this past Saturday.
Volleyball
• Columbia, Mo., Sept. 22 — Carrying a four-match winning streak into their AMC opener, CBC took on the Stars of Stephens College (SC) inside Silverthorne Arena. CBC (6-7, 0-1 AMC) played good defense but couldn’t stop the offense of SC (12-4, 1-0 AMC), falling in straight sets.
• Columbia, Mo., Sept. 23 — Looking to bounce back from a tough match, CBC wrapped up their AMC opening road trip with a matchup against #10 Columbia at the Arena at Southwell Complex. CBC (6-8, 0-2 AMC) nearly took set one before losing in straight sets to the Cougars (14-3, 2-0 AMC).
Women’s Soccer
• St. Louis, Mo., Sept. 23 — Vitoria Loiola’s 70th minute goal helped CBC draw with AMC foe Harris-Stowe (HSSU) at the Hornets Soccer Field. CBC (2-5-2, 0-0-1 AMC) trailed 2-1 at halftime before Loiola’s goal forced the 2-2 draw with HSSU (8-1-1, 0-0-1 AMC).
Women’s Golf
• Batesville, Sept. 25 — Coming off a win last week, CBC was on the course at Eagle Mountain Golf Club for the first round of the Scots Fall Invitational. CBC shot a 344 in the first round and sits two shots behind the leaders, Mississippi University for Women, in second place. Individually, Alyssa Hagewood is in fourth place, five shots behind the leader after an opening round 80. Abby Kirby is also inside the top-10 in a tie for eighth after shooting a first round 85. Thaylia Ramirez shot an opening round 89 and just one shot behind her is Laney Crutchfield.
Men’s Golf
• Batesville, Sept. 25 — Coming off a victory last week, CBC was on the Eagle Mountain Golf Course for the first round of the Scots Fall Invitational hosted by Lyon College. CBC shot a combined score of 298 in the first round and is in fifth place, one shot behind a three-way tie for second and five shots off the lead. Individually, Leopold Maes paced the Mustangs, shooting an opening round 73 to put himself in a tie for sixth place, five shots behind the leader. Jakub Slapal and Kitsakon Jairak both shot 74s and are in a tie for eighth, while Preston Nesterenko opened with a 77 and Suraprat Pareepart shot an 83 in the first round. Emmanuel LaBeur and Joaquin Ali, who are competing as individuals, shot 76 and 77, respectively.
