This month, Central Baptist College announced the promotion of Steve Elder as the new Vice President for Enrollment Management.

With 25 years of experience in higher education, Elder began working at CBC in 2015, holding various roles and responsibilities on campus over the past 9 years. Before joining the faculty at CBC, he served as the dean of ITT Technical College and as the campus college chair for the University of Phoenix in Little Rock. He also has experience as an assistant dean of students and as an adjunct history instructor.

As is often the case, Elder has no doubts that God originally led him to CBC. “Ryan Johnson discussed with me the director of institutional effectiveness position, which opened at just the right time for my family and me. It was a true godsend,” Elder said. Elder oversaw all institutional research in his original position, including data collection, submission and report creation. He also served as the webmaster, managing our student information system, Campus Anyware.

After this, Elder transitioned to his most recent role as the division chair of Nontraditional Programs. In this position, he oversaw concurrent course offerings, PACE and Online Studies, as well as the Behavioral Science department. He also served as the administrator for academic technologies, which included Canvas, Zoom, Tk20, TurnItIn and Dropout Detective.

Now that Elder is transitioning to his new role as vice president of enrollment, he has clear goals. “I would love to create a space where students and alumni are drawn... I want to create an environment with employees that has a magnetic synergy that attracts people to campus in an infectiously fun and biblical way!” he said.

CBC greatly appreciates Elder's impact on the college and her future, and Elder is equally grateful to CBC. “It is the best place I have ever worked!” he exclaimed. “I feel valued, loved, and appreciated by everyone here.”

Elder offered encouragement to anyone interested in pursuing an education at Central Baptist College. “With experience at a traditional state university, a community college and for-profit institutions, I can say this is the best place to receive an education and guidance,” he said. “While we care deeply about our staff, our students are our mission. We seek to transform these lives with an education integrated in the Christian faith and built upon academic excellence supported in a Christ-centered environment.”

We look forward to seeing God's work through Elder in CBC’s future and are thankful for him and all our employees who help make what we do possible.
