Former Missouri Missions Director Dies

Danny R. Kirk, 67 of Bella Vista passed away July 22. He served as a pastor and church planter for 42 years in Arkansas, Texas, Illinois, Kentucky and Missouri. He also coached and mentored pastors and church leaders all over the world and served as the director of missions for Missouri.

Danny attended Jacksonville College and BMA Theological Seminary. He received his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and went on to earn his Master of Science in Social Work from the Kent School of Social Work at the University of Louisville.

After retiring from vocational ministry, Danny’s church membership was at New Heights in Bentonville where he led a community group, which brought him and his wife, Carolyn great joy. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking, fishing and gardening. Danny was an avid reader and loved to spend time at his cabin.

Survivors include his wife of over 47 years, Carolyn; three children, Amy (Kevin) Perry of Bella Vista, Angela (Brandon) Cox of Rogers and Joshua (Caron) Kirk of Phoenix, Ariz.; six brothers, Jimmy Kirk (Tami Ellis) of Rochelle, Ill.; Jeffrey (Dori) Kirk of Las Vegas, Nev.; Clifford (Cheryl) Kirk of Jewel, Iowa; Roger (Tammy) Kirk of Clinton, Iowa; Todd (Wendy) Kirk of Huntsville, Ala.; and Roy (Arieta) Kirk of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Rose Gordon of Clinton, Iowa and Lisa (Matthew) Brady of St. Charles, Mo.; eight grandchildren and one great grandson.

A celebration of his life was held July 26 at New Testament Baptist Church in Sullivan, Mo., with Brandon Cox officiating. Interment followed at Bethel Cemetery in Lonedell, Mo. under the direction of Russell Funeral Home in St. Clair, Mo.
