Grace, Russellville To Host Teacher Training
BT Staff
By Danny Paul, Pastor • Grace Baptist Church, Russellville
Grace Baptist Church in Russellville will be hosting a teacher training workshop on Nov. 4 taught by Baptist Publishing House Executive Director Jordan Tew. The goal is to provide some training in the practice of studying the Bible and preparing to teach a class or group. We would love for pastors, staff members, Sunday School teachers and small group leaders to join us for this event! We will have a morning session starting at 10:30 a.m., lunch provided by the church, then an afternoon session.
When I was a student at Central Baptist College, one of my absolute favorite classes was Hermeneutics, which was about studying the Bible. The word hermeneutics was new to me, and so was a lot of the material. I had pretty much grown up in church but had not been taught much about how to study the Bible for myself. I ended up taking another Hermeneutics class in seminary and again, it was a favorite of mine.
I have come to believe that studying the Bible is an essential skill every Christian should be trained in, especially anyone who would attempt to teach the Bible to others! It is of tremendous benefit for our personal growth, but it is also for the growth of others. Colossians 3:16 (ESV) says that we should “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom…” When the Word saturates our hearts, the overflow of that will be speaking or teaching what we are learning. How do we have hearts that are rich in the Word? Study of and meditation on the Word!
While there is no cost to attend the training, we do ask that you RSVP so we can know how many will be coming. You can email Danny@gracersvl.org with any questions and to sign up for this event!
