Retired BMA Pastor Dies

William Darrell “Bill” Rambo, 93 of Scott, passed away Aug. 18. He surrendered to the ministry in October 1956 and was ordained in January 1959 by Palm Street Baptist Church (now North View), North Little Rock, where he was currently a member. His pastorates included: Rowes Chapel, Humnoke; North Hills, North Little Rock; Perry’s Chapel, England; and Southside, England. He taught the Ambassador Class at North View for over 40 years.
Bill served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 as part of the 1st Cavalry, 5th Regiment, Company C. Following discharge from the Army, he served four more years in the National Guard. He was also a devoted member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), where he would proudly wear his Korean Veteran Cap adorned with the Combat Infantryman Badge. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason affiliated with Big Rock Lodge #633.
Survivors include: two sons, Pete (Teressa) Rambo of Scott, and James (Amanda) Rambo of Jacksonville; a sister, Lucille (Jim) Neal; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life was held Aug. 23 at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home (smithfamilycares.com). Burial with military honors followed at Edgewood Memorial Park in North Little Rock.
