Southwest District GMA Meets
BT Staff
By Madison Miller, Corresponding Secretary
The Southwest District GMA met on Saturday, Oct. 12, at First Baptist Church in Waldo. The theme for the year has been “My God,” and the theme for this meeting was “Light in the Darkness,” based on John 8:12.
In the absence of Lilli Medlin, President Madison Miller and Brooke Hanson led the meeting. Madison Miller gave the welcome, and Daisy Almand gave the response. Abbie Burchfield led the GMA song and the theme song, “Waymaker.”
Louise Johnson gave a devotional about living in the light of Jesus. The object lesson using a pumpkin and candy corn was given by Tara & Daisy Almand. The three candy corn colors represent the Trinity. When we scoop out the seeds and stuff from a pumpkin, we can replace that with the light, just like God does for us when He scoops out our sin and replaces it with Jesus, the light, when we’re saved.
The project for the year has been Middle East Relief, and $235 was given at the meeting, making the total for our project this year $1,512. Total attendance was 18.
Our next meeting will be on Jan. 11, 2025 (Counselors meeting), and our regular meeting will be on Jan. 25, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Taylor.
New officers were elected as follows: President Madison Miller, Vice-President Maddie Medlin, Second Vice-President Brooke Hanson, Song Leader Abbie Burchfield, Recording/Corresponding Secretary Lilli Medlin, Attendance Chairman Dixie Almand, Goal Chairman Kourtney Williams and Historian Beth Wilson and one of the Taylor girls.
The new project selected is Just the Crumbs.
Valarie Fish installed the new officers with a great program about light and darkness.
