Executive Editor’s Note: As part of this year’s theme, Your Connection to the Mission, the Baptist Trumpet is excited to feature this series in the first few issues of the year. These stories will highlight how churches in the Baptist Missionary Association (BMA), working together, have impacted lives around the world for eternity. From pastors encouraged by BMA Financial to students transformed at Central Baptist College and individuals reached through missionary efforts from the state, national and international work of missions, these narratives celebrate the life-changing power of our shared mission. This series serves as a reminder of the incredible difference you and your church make when connected to the mission of advancing God’s kingdom. Together, we are making a global and eternal impact. Stay informed about what God is doing, be inspired by the lives changed through the ministries of the BMA and get involved as you stay connected to the mission through the Baptist Trumpet
Lifeword’s vision has always been clear: to use the power of media to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the entire world. In a world overflowing with noise and distractions, Lifeword’s mission stands firm—to produce biblically-sound, culturally-relevant gospel programming that speaks directly to the heart of each individual in their own language. The goal is not simply to broadcast a message, but to help make disciples—disciples who understand, embrace, and live out the gospel's transformative power.
But who do we really associate for with the local church?
For every family, like this one in Myanmar. In a small corner of Myanmar, a son sat quietly, reflecting on the words of a message he had recently watched. He had come across a YouTube video of a sermon by Lifeword’s speaker, pastor Rama, a familiar voice that had once been his father’s constant companion via the radio. "My father used to listen to your radio program for years," he wrote in a heartfelt message to Rama. "But he went to be with the Lord last year. Now, I’m glad to have found your sermons on YouTube." It was a bittersweet moment—a reminder of his father’s faith and the seeds that had been planted, now passed down through the digital airwaves to social media as it continues to touch hearts even after his father’s passing.
Elsewhere in Myanmar, the messages of gratitude flowed in from different corners of the nation; each one a testament to the power of the truth shared in love. Pilong wrote, “Thank you for your messages. I always listen to them.” Tet expressed how the sermons gave him insight and Soe shared how the messages had deepened his understanding. Awng added, “Thank you for sharing the Truth boldly.” The flood of thanks continued. A listener as far as Thailand simply said, “Thank you for sharing the true Word.” And Lin from Myanmar confessed, “By listening to your sermons, I came to understand many things that I didn’t understand!”
These voices, from a diverse group of listeners, were a reflection of something much larger—an awakening. The Mizo people of Myanmar, many of whom were hearing the gospel for the first time, were stepping out of spiritual darkness into the glorious light of truth. What had once been veiled in mystery was now unfolding before their eyes, and they were hungry for more.
But not all are ready to embrace the truth so easily, as the message of Jesus often meets resistance, such as “every religion is a way to God.” This prompted a surge of passion to correct the false teaching. Using John 14:6 as a clear counter, via Youtube and Facebook videos—in Burmese (74,400 thousand views) and in Mizo (26,100 thousand views) — pastor Rama affirmed the truth that Jesus is the only way to the Father. The gospel message is being shared widely, and people are listening, reflecting, and questioning their own faith.
In the midst of this powerful moment, there was a prayer—one that echoed through the hearts of believers: Pray for friends and others who have been misled by false teachings. May their eyes be opened to the truth of Jesus Christ as the only way to heaven. The hope was that many would hear, understand, and ultimately come to embrace the truth that had been so boldly proclaimed.
For each listener, each comment, and each prayer, the story continued to unfold—a story of lives transformed by the Word of God. From Myanmar to Thailand, from the digital world to the remote corners of the earth, the gospel was making its way into hearts, as thousands were invited to leave spiritual darkness behind and step into His glorious light.
In the end, who do we associate for? We associate for the lost, the broken, the displaced, and the unreached. We associate for the nations—every ethnē, every people group, every individual whom God desires to bless. We walk alongside the local church and other ministries as we do our part in sharing God’s eternal plan to bring the hope of the gospel to the ends of the earth.
Currently, we share the gospel worldwide in 165 languages to a potential audience of over two billion people, with over 22 million new visitors to Lifeword.org, 198.3 million facebook accounts touched, and 1.6 million ongoing interactions, with many being discipled. In 2025, with your support, we pray that we can increase our gospel programming to 175 people groups, like the Yecuana in Venezuela. To translate Follow, our discipleship process, into Spanish, Arabic and Ukrainian. To launch a children’s gospel show in English, and use artificial intelligence as a tool to serve better.
