BMA Pastor's Wife Dies
Lisa Gail Smith Hudson, 58, of Dorsey, Miss., passed away March 9 after a long battle with leukemia. Lisa was married to Matt Hudson, pastor of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Fulton, Miss. He has also served as a pastor in other churches across Mississippi and Arkansas, including First Baptist Church in Damascus and Antioch East Baptist Church in Magnolia.
Lisa was active in the Women’s Missionary Auxiliary at the state and national levels and held many officer positions, including serving as president of the National WMA. She was an accomplished musician who used her talents to praise the Lord through song. She and her husband sang together for the Lord for over 40 years.
Other survivors include her mother, Shirlene Smith; two children, Kala Hudson and Jonathan Hudson; a brother, BMA Global President Dr. John David (Kim) Smith; and a sister, Rhonda (Steven) Tilly.
A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, March 15, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Fulton, Miss., with Dr. John David Smith, Corbey Jones, and Gary Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Keyes Cemetery. Visitation is set for 5-8 p.m. on Friday, March 14, at Bethel Baptist Church and from 10-11 a.m. before the service.
