CBC PROFILE: Board of Trustee Meeting Highlights

      The CBC Board of Trustees met on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20-21. The three standing committees of the Board (Academic, Advancement and Finance) met on Friday evening to conduct business and hear recommendations from the college administrators.

      The full board convened on Saturday morning. Jim Fink opened the meeting with Scripture reading and prayer. All members of the Executive Leadership Team and the faculty council moderator gave reports relative to his/her area of responsibility, then each committee secretary gave a report of his/her respective committee meeting to the full board. The following are some highlights of the Board meeting:

      • Faculty members presented departmental assessment reports during the Academic Committee meeting.

      • Reaffirmed the existing CBC Mission Statement.

      • Approved new course proposal: Human Embryology for 2024-25.

      • Approved revised course proposal: Medical Terminology for 2024-25.

      • Approved revised degree plans: BA Biology, BS Biology, BS Health Sciences, BS Kinesiology-Exercise Science for 2024-25.

      • Approved revised minor: Biology for 2024-25.

      • Heard a report from Faculty Council Moderator.

      • Heard a report on Annual Giving.

      • Heard an update on the Scholarship Gala 2024.

      • Heard an update on fundraising for a new baseball field.

      • Heard an update on digital marketing and Legacy Leaders fundraising.

      • Approved 2024-2025 Housing and Applications and Contracts.

      • The auditor report was presented during the Finance Committee Meeting.

      • Approved the July-September 2023 Operating Results.

      • Approved a new retirement plan transition.

      • Approved the 2024 Ministers Housing Allowances.

      • Heard an Enrollment Report.

      • Approved the Nominating Committee’s recommendations for 2024 board officers as follows: Chair Kirk Shelton; Vice Chair Jake McCandless; Secretary Kellie Harper; and Assistant Secretary Lisa Speer.

      • Approved the election of Terry Kimbrow as president in Executive Session.

      • Recognized the outgoing board members whose terms are ending this year.

Outgoing Board of Trustee Members Recognized

      I would like to thank our four outgoing Board of Trustee members — P. J. Noland, David Pickard, David Watkins and Jennifer Weaver — for their service to Central Baptist College. These men and women served as trustees from 2019-2023, and I cannot thank them enough.
