CBC PROFILE: Homecoming 2023
CBC will host its annual Homecoming week beginning Monday, Feb. 13, and continuing through Saturday, Feb. 18. Several events will take place during the week as we gear up for our main events on Friday and Saturday.
The annual Chili Cook-Off will take place in the Mabee Student Center. Students, alumni, faculty and staff are encouraged to compete. The event will take place during lunch, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Registration is free; all we ask is that you provide enough chili for our students to sample. The event will have free admission and our Dining Services staff will provide hot dogs to accompany the chili. Prizes will be given for the best chili and overall presentation. To register a Chili Cook-Off team, email Amy Reed at areed@cbc.edu.
Immediately following the Chili Cook-Off, we will be hosting our Second Annual Chapel Pep Rally. The pep rally will consist of the presentation of the Homecoming Court and the announcement of varsity boys’ and girls’ basketball teams. Friends and family are invited to attend; however, seating will be limited. The pep rally is set to begin at 1 p.m. in the Burgess Auditorium.
Thursday evening, we have a Talent Contest planned for current students and alumni. If you have a special talent you would like to perform, contact Blake Pittman for all the details. The Talent Contest will be at 7 p.m. in the Burgess Auditorium.
Join us on campus Friday night for fun and games on the lawn. This outdoor event will begin at 5:30 p.m., and will include food, fun games and laser tag.
Saturday, we will be honoring Joyce Garrison, who was a longtime employee in the Business Department at CBC. She began her career in 1956 teaching Typewriting, Shorthand and Accounting. Garrison played a vital role in the beginnings of the CBC Business Department. We will be honoring her by naming the Business Department after her. We will have a short program and unveiling beginning at 10 a.m. in the Burgess Auditorium.
The CBC Alumni Luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the Dining Hall of the Mabee Student Services Building. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at cbc.edu/homecoming. Proceeds from the luncheon will go toward the Kenneth Brown Scholarship fund. Awards will be given to several alumni who have demonstrated incredible service to the community, their careers and steadfast faith.
The highlight of the day will begin in A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse at 1 p.m. with the Lady Mustangs taking on Harris-Stowe. The 2023 Homecoming Court will be announced after the women’s game and will be followed by the Mustangs taking on Harris-Stowe. For more information, go to cbc.edu/homecoming or contact Mallory Guyton at mguyton@bc.edu or (501) 205-8875.
