CBC SPORTS: Basketball Center Stage This Week

Men’s Basketball

         • Columbia, Mo., Nov. 30 — Opening the American Midwest Conference (AMC) portion of their schedule, CBC took on the #23 ranked Cougars of Columbia College (CC) inside the Arena at Southwell Complex. CBC (8-2, 1-0 AMC) never trailed, leading by as many as 28 at one point in the second half, while fighting off a late charge to beat #23 CC (6-2, 0-1 AMC) 80-70. Kyle Harding led five Mustangs in double figures scoring, while Jonas Carlisle paced the team in rebounding and Devin Foster led the way in assists. CBC shot 47% from the field and 39% from deep, while holding Columbia to 43% and 36%, respectively.

Women’s Basketball

         • Columbia, Mo., Nov. 30 — Playing for the first time in 12 days, CBC opened the AMC portion of their schedule against the Cougars of Columbia College (CC) inside the Arena at Southwell Complex. CBC (0-5, 0-1 AMC) trailed by only one after a quarter, but allowed CC (7-2, 2-0) to outscore them 28-9 in the second before falling 90-51. Aliya Grotjohn led the Mustangs in scoring with eight off the bench while Taryanna McNary paced the squad in rebounding with four. CBC shot 33% from the field, 35% from three and 77% at the free throw line.
