CBC SPORTS: CBC Has Five On AMC All-Tourney Teams
Baseball
• St. Louis, Mo., May 7 — CBC finished second at the American Midwest Conference (AMC) tournament and, in doing so, earned three spots on the AMC’s All-Tournament Team. The three spots for the Mustangs went to: Cade McBride, who played six games in the tournament and batted .440 with four runs scored, three doubles, four RBIs, two walks and a stolen base, while primarily hitting leadoff — he also made one pitching appearance, allowing five runs in five innings; Chett McDaniel, who hit .429 in six tournament games, with seven runs scored, three doubles, a home run and six RBIs — four of the six RBIs came on a grand slam in the first game of two for the title against Missouri Baptist; and Gram Middleton won his only start, throwing eight innings of five-hit, one-run baseball against Columbia — he struck out three in the outing, allowing CBC to move onto the semifinal round of the tournament undefeated.
Softball
• St. Louis, Mo., May 7 — The AMC announced their 2024 All-Tournament Team and a pair of CBC softball players were selected: Abi West, who had two hits in the tournament, both going for home runs — her first home run defeated William Woods in walk-off fashion (1-0 in game two for CBC) and her second home run, a three-run blast, started the scoring for the Mustangs against Cottey; and Hannah Work, who pitched twice in the tournament, winning once and losing once — she shut down William Woods’ offense in her first outing, firing a complete game, six-hitter with four Ks before almost beating Williams Baptist for a third time in her final outing.
