CBC SPORTS: Men's Basketball Gets Win

Men’s Basketball

         • Conway, Jan. 5 — Playing for the first time in the 2024 calendar year, CBC returned to the court at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse for their penultimate non-conference matchup with the Phoenix of Cumberland University (CU). CBC (10-4) led by two at halftime and fought off a second half CU (4-10) charge to earn their ninth non-conference win 78-73. Tomas Mikyska led three Mustangs in double figures scoring, which included Devin Foster and Jonas Carlisle. The Mustangs threw a block party, turning away 10 Phoenix attempts at the rim.

Women’s Basketball

         • Nevada, Mo., Jan. 6 — Opening the 2024 calendar year on the road, CBC took on the Comets of Cottey College (CC) in an American Midwest Conference (AMC) contest at Hinkhouse Gymnasium. CBC (1-6, 0-2 AMC) trailed at halftime and couldn’t recover in the second half, falling 52-41 to CC (8-5, 1-2 AMC). Caroline Citty and Olivia Lambrigtsen were the co-leading scorers with nine points each, while those two and Tamara Christmas all led the way in rebounding with five each. The game was won at the free throw line, where the Lady Mustangs were minus eight, making six free throws in eight attempts compared to Cottey’s 14 makes in 16 attempts.
