CBC SPORTS: Women's Soccer Grabs First Win
Women’s Soccer
• Conway, Aug. 22 — Opening the 2023 season with a rare night contest, CBC hosted the Lions of Freed-Hardeman University at Centennial Soccer Complex. Vitoria Loiola’s 86th minute goal, her second of the contest, gave CBC (2-0) a 2-1 victory over the Lions (0-2). Loiola’s first goal of the contest came unassisted in the 36th minute and tied the contest at 1 after FHU had scored on a penalty kick rebound in the 14th minute. Amanda Parrerias assisted on the winner, her first assist of the season. Bailey Walerczyk posted three saves to earn the win in net as the Mustangs outshot the Lions 10-8 overall and 6-4 on goal.
Volleyball
• Chickasha, Okla., Aug. 22 — Playing on the road for the first time this season, CBC was on the court at Drover Fieldhouse for a tri-match against Friends University and the host school, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO). CBC (1-3) captured their first win of the season against Friends (0-1) 3-1 in the first match before dropping the later contest 1-3 to USAO (2-0).
Men’s Soccer
• Texarkana, Aug. 26 — Opening the 2023 season on the road, CBC took on the Eagles of Texas A&M-Texarkana (TAMUT) at Morgan Field. CBC (1-1) couldn’t break through the TAMUT (1-0), allowing a first half goal and 3 in the second half to lose 4-0. CBC attempted two shots on goal in the match, with both coming off the feet of freshman Jort Bressers. Jasper Gadellaa played all 90 minutes in net and made seven saves.
• Conway, Aug. 28 — Playing in town for the first time this season, CBC traveled a couple miles down the road for a night clash with the Hendrix Warriors at Warrior Field. CBC (1-2) couldn’t break through the Hendrix defense, falling in a hard fought 1-0 game to HC (1-0). CBC outshot the Warriors 10-5 overall and 2-1 on goal. The Mustangs also had two chances hit the crossbar and one graze off the left post of the Warriors goal.
