CBC SPORTS: Women's Volleyball Dominates Rust College

Women’s Golf

• Henderson, Tenn., Oct. 17 — Entering the final round of the Freed-Hardeman Fall Invitational in sixth place, CBC looked to move up in the standings during the final round at the Chickasaw Golf Club. CBC closed with a 365, for a total score of 724 in 6th place. Individually, Alyssa Hagewood finished in 10th after closing with an 84 to finish at 161. Laney Crutchfield was next after shooting a 90 to finish at 182, followed by Abby Kirby, who closed with a 91 for a total of 184, with Thaylia Ramirez finishing at 197 and Kara Keathley at 215.

Men’s Golf

• Henderson, Tenn., Oct. 17 — Entering the final round in 5th place, CBC played at the Freed-Hardeman Fall Invitational at the Chickasaw Golf Club. CBC couldn’t improve their standing, shooting a final round 321 to finish at 640 in 6th place, 27 shots behind the three-way tie for the top spot. Individually, Kitsakon Jairak led the Mustangs, shooting a final round 78 to finish at 150 in a tie for 4th. Individual competitor Suraprat Pareepart was next as he closed with a two-under-par 70 to finish at 151. Preston Nestorenko and Jakub Slapal both shot 158 for the tournament, while Leopold Maes finished at 159 and Emmanuel LaBeur finished at 163.

Men’s Soccer

• Conway, Oct. 17 — Playing an American Midwest Conference (AMC) home match, CBC hosted the Trojans of Hannibal-LaGrange (HLGU) at Centennial Soccer Park. CBC (5-7-3, 1-0-3 AMC) led 1-0 at halftime and won the match 2-1 over HLGU (2-6-3, 0-3-1 AMC). Jort Bressers notched his first career goal in the match, while Daniel Pinkney scored the winner late.

• Conway, Oct. 21 — Playing at Warrior Field at Hendrix College for a home match, CBC hosted the Cougars of Columbia (CC) in an AMC match. CBC (5-8-3, 1-1-3 AMC) couldn’t break through the CC (8-3-4, 4-1-1 AMC) defense, dropping points to the Cougars by a 2-0 result. Daniel Pinkney was able to get one shot toward CC’s net, but it was turned away. Jasper Gadellaa turned away seven CC shots, but allowed a pair of second half goals in the defeat.

Volleyball

• Conway, Oct. 19 — Playing for the first time in nine days, CBC was back on the court at A.R. Reddin Fieldhouse to take on the Bearcats of Rust College (RC). CBC (11-9) dominated the match, sweeping RC (8-21) 3-0 to take the season series. Madeline Freeman led the way with nine kills and hit .300 while Molly Murphy led with 14 assists and Freeman also led in digs with 12.

• Fulton, Mo., Oct. 20 — Looking to run their winning streak to five in a row, CBC hit the road for the first time since Oct. 3 to take on AMC opponent William Woods. The Mustangs (11-10, 2-3 AMC) couldn’t contain the potent Owl (21-8, 4-3 AMC) attack, falling in straight sets for the ninth time in series history. Faith Stone led the way in kills with eight while Molly Murphy had 10 assists and Mikayla Lawrence had 16 digs, putting her 74 shy of 1,500 for her career.

• St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 21 — Playing for the third consecutive day, CBC was on the court at UHSP Gymnasium for an AMC match against the Eutectics of the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (UHSP) in St. Louis. CBC (12-10, 3-3 AMC) took the first, second and fourth sets to beat UHSP (3-25, 2-5 AMC) 3-1. Madeline Freeman led the way in kills for the Mustangs with 17, while Molly Murphy led with 25 assists and Mikayla Lawrence posted 24 digs.

Women’s Soccer

• Conway, Oct. 21 — Looking to make history, CBC hosted the Cougars of Columbia College at Centennial Soccer Park. CBC (4-8-3, 2-1-2 AMC) couldn’t prevent Columbia (13-1-1, 6-0 AMC) from scoring, trailing 3-0 at halftime before ultimately losing 4-0. Amanda Parreiras attempted the only shot on goal for the Mustangs in the match. It was a record-setting afternoon for the Mustangs as Bayleigh Williams eclipsed Ashley Hultquist’s mark for all-time matches played with 79 and Bailey Walerczyk, who made two saves, broke the all-time minutes played record, playing all 90 minutes for a career total of 2,903, passing Kalynn Simpson’s previous record of 2,824.
