Former BMA Pastor Dies

Neil Rudolph Schalchlin, 95, of Sherwood, passed away March 29. He was a member of North View Baptist Church in North Little Rock and a US Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving aboard the USS St. Paul from June 1948 to May 1952. In recognition of his service and dedication to our nation, a flag was flown over the U.S. Capitol in his honor on March 1, 2025.

He pastored BMA churches, including Bethel Baptist Church in Mabelvale.

Survivors include: four sons, Steven Mark Schalchlin of New York, N.Y.; David Olsen Schalchlin of Sherwood; Corwin “Corky” Neil (Diane) Schalchlin of Prosper, Texas; and Scott Matthew (Annette) Schalchlin of Austin, Texas; a sister, Letha Joyce Schalchlin Eberle; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were scheduled for April 9 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home in North Little Rock with Mike Cantrell officiating and interment in Lost Creek Cemetery in Sheridan.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North View Baptist Church, 6801 John F Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock, Ark. 72116.
