Idleman, Former Missionary To Be Honored for Service

First Baptist Church in Galena, Kan. will be hosting a celebration for Charles Idleman on April 23 from 1-3 p.m. to recognize his 50 years of ministry.

Bro. Idleman preached his first sermon (a little over four minutes long) at Bruin Park Baptist Church in Anchorage, Alaska on Jan. 30, 1972. Later that year, he enrolled at Central Baptist College and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree. While at CBC, he served as assistant pastor to Dr. Harold Cooper at Needs Creek Baptist Church in Greenbrier and was ordained by that church.

He went on to pastor two Arkansas churches — Old Hickory at Hattieville and New Caney at Gurdon — before moving to the Kansas/Missouri area where he served for 39 years. He served as an interstate missionary in Lansing, Kan. and for 10 years as pastor of First Baptist Church in Galena before leaving in 1998. He also pastored Sand Flat in Grand Saline, Texas and New Testament in Sullivan, Mo., where he retired after 17 years of service. He and his wife, Marsha have returned to the Galena area where he currently serves as assistant to the pastor at First Baptist, Galena.

If you are unable to attend the celebration in person, any correspondence may be sent in care of First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 218, Galena, Kan. 66739.
