IN MY OWN WORDS: Let's Hear It for the Teachers
I enjoy looking at the pics on social media of all the students beginning the new school year. Moms and Dads proudly display impromptu photos of their kids headed off to take in all the new school year has to offer. Most of the kids look pretty happy about it. They may not really be all that happy, but at least they are putting on a good face. It’s all about turning a new page. It’s a rite of passage. It’s about parents realizing they will never pass this way again, and it’s about students seizing the day.
But school is more than just about the students. It’s also about the people waiting for them to fill up those classrooms. Teachers are amazing people. They have hard jobs filled with long days and over-the-top expectations. They serve as educators because they want to make a difference in the life of a child. I mean, that has to be it, right? Honestly, it can’t be for the money. There’s too much stress, too many people looking over your shoulder and way too much noise for it to be about the money. Teachers teach because they want to invest in the lives of students.
There’s a lot of talk out there on the subject of “what’s going on in our classrooms?” Teachers have come under a lot of scrutiny as of late because of Critical Race Theory, the LGBT agenda and other social constructs that have infected our culture. And while I am the first to throw up my hand and say, “Don’t spend my tax dollars pushing those lies on our kids,” I would like to tell you that I’ve never met a teacher with any motive to do that. In fact, all the teachers I know aren’t interested at all in teaching propaganda. They really want to help kids be the best students they can be. Are there teachers out there wanting to manipulate the minds of kids? I’m sure there are, but I’ve just never met them.
Should we be concerned about what our children are learning? Absolutely. Should we ask about what they are being taught? Certainly, we should. But we should also be about respecting those who are teaching our kids. We should pray for them, encourage them and champion them. It’s amazing to me that some parents will treat K-12 grade public school teachers with disdain, then turn around and pay big bucks for their kids to become indoctrinated by a godless government in a public college. Now, I’m not down on state-run universities, but, if your kid is going to have an agenda forced on them, it’ll more than likely be in a state university. And most parents never say a thing about that. They just accept it and keep shelling out the cash.
So, commit to pray for your child’s teachers this year! Be the parent that asks to help the teacher! Be the parent that sends the teacher little gifts and encourages them. Teachers make an important impact on the life of a child. They absolutely help change lives, and they are worthy of our prayers!
