JUST THE CRUMBS Ministry Update

By Lavon Haden, CEO & Brandy Haden, President

After the severe tornadoes that swept through the Midwest on May 16 and 17, Just the Crumbs Disaster Relief sought God’s guidance on where to set up a kitchen. A suitable location was found at Victory Baptist Church (165 Hammons Lane) in London, Kentucky. We arrived on May 22 and served a meal to the volunteers on-site that evening. We continue to provide three meals a day to on-site volunteers and a hot meal around midday to community members. Another Just the Crumbs team is feeding volunteers from Georgia who are doing skid steer and chainsaw work at 440 Airline Road, Morganfield, Kentucky.

Just the Crumbs has been operating in North Carolina since late September 2024. As this report is being typed, we still have work to complete in the Lake Lure, N.C. area throughout June. Afterward, we will take a step back and seek God’s guidance for our next move.

After tornadoes caused damage across our country on the nights of March 15 and 16, Just the Crumbs deployed one team to assist the community and volunteers at the Jefferson Davis/Covington County Baptist Association building located at the intersection of highways 35 and 84 in Mississippi. Another team was dispatched to Des Arc, Missouri, where they served until the immediate needs were addressed.

As always, funds are needed to sustain feeding, debris removal, clean-outs and rebuilds. We cannot express enough gratitude to every individual, group and church that has contributed their time and finances to support these disaster relief efforts. Some of the tornado-hit communities continue to face total devastation. We are grateful that groups are still coming in to provide the necessary help. Recovery is a slow process, as much needs to be rebuilt from the ground up and even below. Many individuals lack insurance and funds to rebuild, and people of all ages are still seeking a way to start over. We must extend hope in Christ whenever, wherever and however we can.

Volunteers are always needed for every phase of our work. To schedule a time to serve, you may call Lavon Haden at (601) 522-6055 or Brandy Haden at (601) 441-4586. Please leave a text and/or call again if your call is not answered or returned immediately. Cell service in these areas is not always dependable. If you follow our Facebook page (www.fb.com/justthecrumbs), you can learn a lot about our activities and our needs.
