LIFEWORD: Featured Language - Ewe
The Ewe (pronounced “Eh-weh”) language is primarily spoken in the countries of Ghana, Togo, and Benin in West Africa. Over 3 million people speak Ewe as a first language, with many more using it as a second language in multilingual areas. The Ewe people are one of the major ethnic groups in this area. While many Ewe today practice Christianity or Islam, traditional religious beliefs are still prevalent, involving the worship of Mawu (the Supreme God), numerous lesser deities and ancestral spirits. Vodun (Voodoo) originated in this region and is part of the traditional spiritual heritage. Lifeword's Ewe speaker, Emmanuel Akpor, shares a weekly devotional on Lifeword.org, which tells the Ewe people the truth and gospel of Jesus Christ. Would you pray for him as he continues to share the Good News with the many spiritually lost people in his culture? For more information, go to lifeword.org/ewe.
Please join our US Lifeword Staff in praying for the following:
• Pray that the latest Lifeword initiative in the jungles of Columbia will bear fruit!
• Pray that God will open those doors as Lifeword has the opportunity to begin ministering in new languages spoken in Iran and Afghanistan!
• Pray for new languages to be added soon for FOLLOW!
• Pray for Rebecca Decker as she begins producing the new Lifeword Children’s Broadcast! We pray this broadcast will be the first of many programs Lifeword produces to target children.
• Pray for those connecting online with FOLLOW, Lifeword’s digital discipleship tool. Many are hearing the gospel, learning what it means to be a disciple and taking that next step to following Him.
