OBITUARY: Former CBC Board Member and Current Lifeword Board Member Dies

Marvin “Sonny” Douglas Delk, 83 of Bald Knob, passed away Feb. 21. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Bible Church of Beebe. He served three terms as a trustee for Central Baptist College (1999-2023, 2005-2009 & 2011-2015). He also served a term as a Lifeword board member from 2019 to 2024 and was in his second term after being elected in April for a term ending in 2029.

He and his wife of 65 years, Kathy, founded Delk Construction Company in 1978. The company continues to be a thriving family-owned and operated business, having served numerous churches and ministries. This includes being the primary contractor for Central Baptist College's Judy Gabbard Science Center in the Cooper Complex and the Bates Student Plaza (Gazebo). Delk Construction also managed the renovation of the Lifeword offices when they relocated to the property on Locust Street, including the transition to the BMA Global Ministry Center and the completion of the BMA Ministry Center Warehouse in 2023, along with Lifeword’s recent renovation of the Television Production Suite.

He is also survived by his three sons Marvin (Pam) Delk Jr. of Bald Knob, Jack (Monica) Delk of Searcy and Dean (Tamara) Delk of Salisbury, N.C.; 8 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

A funeral service will be held Feb. 26 at Bible Church of Beebe, located at 1601 W. Center St., Beebe, Ark. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m. A private committal service will take place at Cypert Cemetery in Marvell.
