SPOTLIGHT ON MISSIONS: Brandon & Brittney Lingle • Thailand

We made it back to Thailand on January 6. It's always hard to leave family, but we are so thankful for their love and support. We are thankful for the opportunity to be back in Thailand and serve. Here are some things we have been doing our first two months back:

         • Wedding in the Village — Just a few days after we landed, we took a long trip up to Northern Thailand to be a part of Jenny's wedding. She was our helper for about five years. We love her and her family, and it was a joy to be at her wedding. She gave me the honor of speaking at her wedding, and little Joy was one of the flower girls. We enjoy the simple life of the village and are encouraged by how they love each other and the Lord. The kids always have a blast there, too. This time, they decided to build a tent out of banana leaves. We also got to witness how seven living and breathing pigs get turned into a feast.

         • Moved back to Bangkok — We are thankful for the friends and workers who helped move our things into our new place in Bangkok. It was a tiring time, but we are thankful everything is done. It was so interesting to see how the Lord took care of everything. For example, I noticed we wouldn't have room for some things, but after talking to some friends and workers, we realized they needed those exact things. It was neat how it worked out perfectly. Our friend's father was going to go out and buy a sink that week. We told him, “Don't worry; we had one he could have.” A close friend there had some nieces and nephews who had never had a bed before, so we were able to leave our kids’ bunkbeds for them! There were several other things we were able to give away to those who needed it.

         • Working Hard on New House — God has blessed us with a very spacious house. The rent is cheap for the location and size and the reason is because the house had a lot of problems. Our friends worked long and hard while we were in America to make this house livable. The past two months have been spent finishing up the house.

         • First Bible Study — Last Tuesday, we were able to host our first Bible study. The kids outnumbered the adults 14 to 13, so we are more prepared this Tuesday to accommodate them. We had a Buddhist and a Muslim join. I was thankful they stayed a few extra hours to discuss faith and the Bible. We hope and pray that the Lord would grow this study and a new church will form.

         • Judge at University Speech Contest — This was my first time to be a judge at an English speech competition. Different Universities send their top students to compete. I was glad to serve, meet new people and share the gospel with others while there.

         • Healthy Churches Asia Conference — It's a joy every year to gather with fellow missionaries from all over Asia to worship and encourage one another. Thankful for these friendships and the love between us all. The kids always enjoy meeting up each year as well. What a blessing!

Please join us in praying as we continue to reach out and have our Bible studies on Tuesday night, for Ben and I as we meet regularly to prepare for this new church (Lord willing, Ben will be ordained in a few months), our family to be a light in our new area and for strength as we serve here.

We praise the Lord and thank him for the new house, for serving alongside Ben and his family and for your support and encouragement through everything. God is good!
