SPOTLIGHT ON MISSIONS: Doug and Diane Lee • Philippines

More and more as a missionary, the words to a song we used to sing keep coming to my mind: “Learning to lean, Learning to lean, Learning to lean on Jesus. Finding more power that I’d ever dreamed; I’m leaning to lean on Jesus.”

It seems that ministry always has its challenges — “…the God of Heaven will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build…” (Neh. 2:20). Teaching young minds is an awesome responsibility. Training them to go forth into all of Asia is a responsibility I do not take lightly. Lord, help me to lean on you, day by day, hour by hour and minute by minute.

We recently had our first day of college and orientation with an enrollment of 70 students. After our Registration and Orientation Day, we try to have an outing for the faculty and staff. This year we invited the Elementary Department, Darlene Carey Academy faculty and staff, to join us. What a great day we had fellowshipping with all the faculty of the lower and higher education groups.

The subject of our first chapel service was about responsibility. Each student passed by a mirror to see the person responsible for their choices, grades, success, words and actions. “Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the Lord. Then the Lord put forth his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth. See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build and to plant” (Jer. 1:8-10).

Freshmen Week — Freshmen were required to wear hats and a sign with their life verse on it all week for Freshmen Week, among other things! They are super excited to be at the Baptist Missionary Association Bible College (BMABC).

We have five students who need a scholarship! If you would like to sponsor one of these students, the cost is only $100 a month, which includes room, board and tuition. Funds can be sent to Mill Creek Baptist Church, 11 Old Kiln Road, Picayune, Miss 39466 or to the BMA Global Missions Office, P.O. Box 878, Conway, Ark. 72033. Please indicate on your check that it is for Doug and Diane Lee Scholarship Fund. You can have your donation set up on a debit by calling the Missions office or you can pay $1,200 for the year. We will send you a photo and a biography on your student. You will be blessed!

Retirement Party for Pastor Rapado — After 33 years of faithful services, the maintenance and grounds keeper for BMABC, Pastor Rapado, has retired. We had a party with family, faculty, staff and students where I gave his retirement check to Mrs. Rapado — she liked that!

BMABC Newly Renovated Kitchen/Canteen — The kitchen had to be completely renovated (new roof, ceiling, screens and doors). The only thing lacking is flooring. If anyone would like to help with this project, please notify us. Any amount would be greatly appreciated.

It is amazing what God can do when we work together. Praise the Lord for our BMA counterparts across the nation and around the world! I am satisfied, amid all the confusion around the world, God has our tomorrow and we do not have to worry about what is next. Please remember while we are here, we still have 24 people that look to us each month for their livelihood. This includes faculty and staff and our missionaries and church planters. Please do not forget to continue your funds and especially your prayers. (edouglee70@gmail.com, dianehusserlee@gmail.com)
