SPOTLIGHT ON MISSIONS: Joshua & Meagan Phiri • Zambia

They walked for miles. Under the hot African sun, men and women from remote villages walked for hours, carrying their sick children and enduring their own pain. They traveled with hope, knowing that at the end of their journey, a medical team was waiting to provide the care and healing they desperately needed.

Their children were burning with fever, and their elders suffered from infections that had gone untreated for years. With no clinic, no doctors and no medicine — hope seemed like a distant dream. But that day, because of a team from Baptist Medical Missions International (BMMI, bmaglobal.org/bmmi) — everything changed.

Compassionate doctors and nurses became vessels of hope — delivering life-saving treatment, distributing essential medicine and proclaiming the transformative power of the gospel. With every patient they touched, they weren’t just healing bodies — they were igniting faith, restoring dignity and ushering in a new chapter of hope and wholeness.

A man who came from Lusumo village made a simple yet profound request — “You have healed our bodies and nourished our souls. Will you come to our village and bring a church?” It was a moment of divine invitation. Today, Lusumo has a church and clean water. Because of that one invitation — a single moment of openness to the gospel — we planted a church under a tree in Lusumo village. It is a place where faith now takes root and grows and where voices rise in worship under the vast African sky. Because of generous supporters, we dug a well that now overflows with clean, life-giving water — not just quenching physical thirst but opening hearts to the eternal wellspring of Christ’s love.

That is only the beginning. Every prayer, every gift, every step of faith is building something greater — transforming lives, strengthening communities and spreading the light of the gospel where darkness once reigned. A village that once had no medicine, no church and no water now has the gospel, healing and a well that will never run dry.

Another Village is Calling… Will You Answer?

Just like Lusumo, other villages are waiting for a church, for healing and water. Just like Lusumo — they are ready — but we cannot go without you. Will you pray with us for the following:

         • Clean water for families — Pray for God’s provision as we bring life-sustaining water to those in need, a reflection of His grace and care.

         • Strengthening village churches — Ask for support as we plant and sustain churches, bringing discipleship, revival and hope to communities.

         • Medical outreach and healing — Seek God’s blessing as we provide life-saving care, opening hearts to the gospel and demonstrating Christ’s love through healing.

         • Pray for open doors, abundant resources and a powerful move of God as we advance His kingdom — one family, one village, one mission at a time!

If you would like to give via check, please make them payable to “BMA Global — ChangeMaker,” write “For Joshua and Meagan Phiri” on the memo line and mail to P.O. Box 878, Conway, Ark. 72033. If you would like to give online, please go to tiny.cc/ZambiaPhiri. All gifts are tax-deductible.
