Thurman, BMA Minister Dies

Lonnie Ray Von Thurman, 85 of Potosi, Mo., passed away on Feb. 2. He pastored several churches in Arkansas, Alaska, Tennessee and Missouri including: Landmark Baptist Church in Corning; Bruin Park Baptist Church and Cook Inlet Baptist Church in Anchorage, Alaska; First Baptist Church at Munford, Tenn.; Neelyville Baptist Church in Neelvyille, Mo.; Breton Creek Baptist Church in Potosi, Mo.; and Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Salem, Mo.

He enjoyed woodworking, playing the guitar, electronics, songwriting and singing.

Survivors include: his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Coble Thurman; three children, Craig (Luanne) Thurman of Caswell, Alaska; Cynthia (Mark) Thoenen of Jefferson City, Mo. and Lonnie Ray Von (Fara) Thurman Jr. of Texarkana; three sisters, Peggy (Curt) Reinbott of Harviell, Mo.; Sue (Charles Carner) Thurman Beller of Harviell, Mo.; Joy Davis of Jonesboro and Marilyn Lee of Jonesboro; two brothers, Jim (Violet) Thurman of Jonesboro and Roy (Rosalee) Thurman of Jonesboro; 6 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Feb. 8 at Fowler and Sons Funeral Home at Neelyville, Mo., with interment at Antioch Cemetery in Oxly, Mo. with Terry Sharpe officiating.
