Widow of BMA Pastor Dies

      Vannette Shields Horton, 81, of Fairfield, Texas, passed away Feb. 5. She was the wife of the late Henry Horton for 54 years. He served as a missionary in France from 1966 to 1970 and pastored churches in Texas, including Lost Prairie in Groesbeck, Calvary in Mesquite and Round Prairie in Fairfield. His last pastorate was Antioch Baptist Church in Conway, where he served for 20 years before retiring in 2008, and was named Antioch’s pastor emeritus until his death on June 17, 2017.

      Vannette’s legacy of faith, love, and adventure will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

      Survivors include a daughter, ReNae (Shawn) Eyre of Jacksonville, Texas; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

      A celebration of life was held Feb. 10 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Fairfield, officiated by Dr. Jason Aultman and Shawn Hammontree. Interment followed at Antioch Cemetery, under the direction of Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home (griffin-roughton.com).
