Wife of Former BMA Pastor/Missionary Dies
Charlotte Winifred Turner, 84 of Hughes Springs, Texas, passed away March 10. Her husband of 66 years, Ray Duane Turner, is a former BMA of America interstate missionary to Denver, Colo. and BMA pastor of many churches in Texas. He also served as the director of ministry development at the BMA Texas Baptist Home for Children and as the National Galilean Director.
Mrs. Turner was the first to preside over the election of officers when the National Girls Missionary Auxiliary (GMA) was organized in 1964 and served as director/superintendent for the GMA National Camp for many years.
Survivors include: four children, Candy (Ricky) Thompson, Cherri Eichel, John (Angela) Turner and Theron (Cindi) Turner; two sisters, Brenda (Tommy) Shuttlesworth and Nell (Jim) Buchanan; one brother, Randy (Betty) Thompson; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 14 at Ebenezer Friendship Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Texas, with interment at Ebenezer Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home (ermansmithfuneralhome.com) in Pittsburg.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Texas Baptist Home for Children (tbhc.org) and/or Jacksonville College (jacksonvillecollege.edu).
