Builders Return to Brookeland, Texas

By Nelda Malone, Reporter

Last October, The Master’s Builders went down to Brookeland, Texas to help with construction inside a 5,000 sq ft. multipurpose building. They recently returned there (job #190 for our group) to continue helping this mission church with finishing the beautiful metal building, which has rooms on one end and an open gym area on the other. The open end can be used for basketball, volleyball and all kinds of community events.

The framing of the rooms on one end was done last fall, and The Builders installed 16 ft. studs in the gym area and put up smart siding on all the walls during this visit. Smart siding was also installed in the restrooms, kitchen, youth room, Prophet’s chamber and a storage room. It was such a pleasure to have the painters working alongside us, painting the siding as we hung it!  After the painters finished, our men put up darker trim boards around the interior of the building, and it turned out beautifully! This building has been a work in progress for a few years, and a Brookeland Missionary Baptist vision for many years. Praise God for answered prayer!

There were seven RVs and one tent (even in the hot weather) at this job site, with eight men and five women in attendance. We praise the Lord for these opportunities to serve Him! Each job is special, and we are always thankful to make new friends along the way.

When we arrived in Brookeland, it was like a family reunion as we fellowshipped together and recalled our time together last fall. Friendships in Christ were strengthened, and some new friendships were made.

We send special thanks to Pastor Jerry Gilbert and his wife, Tammy, for all the work and love they are putting into this church family and this community. Thanks also to the whole body of believers at Brookeland, who were so loving and giving and made our time there special. We especially appreciate the men of the church who worked alongside us, and especially Shane Donohoe and his wife, Brianna who took a week of vacation time to help us. It was very hot and humid while we were working, so we thank Bro. Don and his wife, who made sure we had ice every day for our water and Gatorade. We also appreciate Billy Ross Donahoe, and wife, Bulah for their love of this church family and community and all the ladies of the church who provided our delicious meals for the past two weeks and the extra surprises they blessed us with along the way.

Please pray for this mission church and for workers to come and work with The Master’s Builders so this ministry will continue. The harvest is plentiful.
