CBC PROFILE: CBC Fine Arts

As we continue forward in the 2024-25 academic year, we look forward to a great year of performances from our CBC Fine Arts Department.

The CBC Band will perform in their fall concert Oct. 3 at 6:30 p.m. Director of Instrumental Music Donna Bradley works hard alongside the CBC Band to provide music and support for many CBC activities and events, so we are happy to have this opportunity to support them and hear this performance.

After this, Associate Professor of Music Dr. Earl Johnson and the Worship Choir will have their 13th annual hymn service Oct. 10 in Toland at 1:40 p.m. and 7 p.m. This year’s hymn service theme is “19th Century British Hymn Writers Part 1.”

On Oct. 24 at 6:30 p.m., the women’s chorus will have a concert premiere of their commissioned piece. This will be the first performance ever of this arrangement titled “All Things New.”

We will have our annual Fine Arts Christmas Concert in Burgess Auditorium to end the semester on Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. This concert is a great opportunity to hear from every Fine Arts group and program in one concert, and we always enjoy hearing what the department has prepared.

We are also excited to recognize this year’s CBC singers. Choir Director and Assistant Professor of Music Jim Turner works alongside our CBC Singers every year representing the college to churches in Conway and surrounding areas. This year’s singers are Caleb Claiborne, Avery Crocker, Mary Grace Hall, Masen Pinkerton, Natalie Smith, Drew Tiner and Abby Wilson.

Finally, we want to invite everyone to the upcoming CBC Musical coming on March 14-15, 2025. This year, students will be performing Fiddler on the Roof, and it will be directed by CBC alumna Lauren Hager. Assistant Professor of Music Suzanne Banister will be the music director for the musical, and Donna Bradley will be the orchestra director.

Fiddler on the Roof is a Broadway musical that first opened in 1964. Considered one of the best Broadway musicals of all time, we are very excited to see our students perform in March, and we are confident they will work hard to make the show great. Stay tuned for details on how to purchase tickets to the show.

We are very excited about all the upcoming Fine Arts performances and are proud of the work our faculty and students are putting toward each of these events. We hope to see you there!
