CBC PROFILE: Ratliff Family Establishes Endowed Scholarship

Central Baptist College is proud to announce the establishment of the Ratliff Family Endowed Scholarship, a new initiative to support students pursuing degrees in education. This scholarship has been generously established by Jo Ann Ratliff, a dedicated educator and member of a family with a rich legacy in teaching.

The Ratliff family has a long history of service in education spanning four generations. Since 1961, they have cultivated a commitment to teaching, fostering a passion for guiding young minds. Notable family members include Tommy Ratliff, who attended CBC from 1961 to 1963 and earned his AA degree, and Jo Ann Ratliff, who attended the college in the early 1960s. Other family members, including Brian Ratliff and Tyler Maynard, husband of Averi Ratliff Maynard (2016-2020), have also made their mark in education following their studies at CBC. In total, the Ratliff family boasts 61 consecutive years of educators since 1964 and over 100 cumulative years of teaching experience. The family believes that all levels of education — whether private or public, preschool or post-graduate — require strong Christ-followers to lead the way. Their philosophy centers on sharing the love of Christ through teaching and positively impacting students’ lives.

The priority for awarding the Ratliff Family Endowed Scholarship will be given to students seeking a degree in education. Jo Ann Ratliff expressed hope that scholarship recipients will honor God in their lives and work, making a profound difference in their classrooms and communities.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Ratliff family for their generosity and commitment to the education profession,” said President Kimbrow. “This scholarship not only honors their legacy but also establishes a foundation for future educators to excel in their calling.”

The Ratliff family has two other scholarships at Central Baptist College — the Virginia Ratliff Endowed Scholarship and the F.R. Ratliff Endowed Scholarship.
