Southwest District GMA Meets

By Lilli Medlin, Recording & Corresponding Secretary • Southwest District GMA

The Southwest District GMAs met on Saturday, Jan. 25 at First Baptist Church in Taylor. The theme for this year is “Oh the Places You’ll Go with God!” (Prov. 3:5-6). The theme for this meeting was “Oh the Things You Will Discover with God!” (Psalm 139:10).

GMA President Madison Miller opened and led the meeting, and Peggy Bland gave the opening prayer. Reese Camp welcomed us from First Baptist Church, and Maddie Medlin from Pleasant Springs gave the response. The GMA Watchword, Aim, Allegiance and Star Ideals were led by Madison Miller, and GMA Song Leader Abbie Burchfield led the GMA song with Carol Yates on the piano. Attendance Chairman Dixie Almand updated the attendance board. We had 30 people attending from 4 churches, with 8 visitors present.

The project for this year is “Just the Crumbs.” State GMA Promoter Audrey Krisell and the state officers introduced the theme, theme verses and what we will be doing at the upcoming State GMA meeting/houseparty that will be held Feb. 14-15 at Central Baptist College in Conway. Jeana Medlin then gave an object lesson. She used the different colored markers to represent the different stages/colors we go through in our lives and how we can use God as our guide through all of them.

Abigail Hall brought our special music, “The Truth.” Dixie Almand talked to us about her time as the 2024 Southwest District Jr. Miss GMA, then gave a devotional using a Dr. Suess book with “Thing One” and “Thing Two” to go along with the theme.

Lorie Hicks then introduced our speaker, David Lamb, who spoke to us about the project, “Just the Crumbs.” He told us about the ministry's beginning in Sumrall, Miss., in 2015 and how much of a blessing the ministry was in helping in disaster relief to the people in North Carolina, feeding large amounts of people. He said the money that has been donated has definitely been put to good use, they are extremely grateful to all the churches and the donations have provided lots of blessings for lots of people.

Abbie Burchfield and several other GMA girls then led us in the song “Every Move I Make,” and Abbie led us in “Where He Leads I’ll Go.”

Mrs. Peggy dismissed us in prayer to eat lunch provided by First Baptist Church and the state officers had a planning meeting following lunch.
