SPOTLIGHT ON MISSIONS: Joshua & Meagan Phiri • Zambia

We are excited to share with you the joyous news of a new addition to our family! On the Oct. 16, our hearts puffed-up with happiness as we welcomed our baby boy, Jaron Nyunga, into the world. We are grateful for your love and prayers during this special time. Jaron Nyunga arrived at 10:34 a.m., weighing 7 lbs., 9 oz. and measuring 21 inches. We have been overwhelmed with joy and are grateful to God for the precious gift of new life. Mom and Jaron are both doing wonderfully, and we are cherishing these precious moments together.

We also want to share the uplifting spirit of unity that recently swept through our community. On Zambia’s Independence Day, our three local churches came together to celebrate not only our nation’s freedom but also the freedom we have in Christ. The combined Independence Day celebration was a remarkable experience, with members of all three churches gathering at our local church in Delevu village. It was a beautiful display of unity, love and the shared belief that, in Christ, we find true freedom.

During the celebration, Pastor Enock, Elder Rudolph and Elder Christopher shared a reflective message on the concept of freedom in Christ. Just as Zambia gained its independence from colonial rule, we are reminded that Christ’s sacrifice on the cross grants us independence from sin and gives us eternal life in Him. The evening was filled with communal prayer, worship and expressions of gratitude for the love of Christ that binds them together. They sang hymns, lifted their voices in prayer and rejoiced in the fellowship of believers.

As we celebrate the birth of our little Jaron Nyunga and the unity we share in Christ, we are reminded that every day is an opportunity for new beginnings. Just as our family welcomes a new life, our village churches welcome new opportunities to grow in faith and share the love of Christ.
