Tornado Relief Efforts And How You Can Help
Many people have stepped up to help those affected by the recent tornado in Central Arkansas. Bottled water has been donated by a company in Potosi, Mo. for the relief efforts and was delivered to Cherrywood Baptist Church in Sherwood and Park View Baptist Church in North Little Rock to allow them to minister to their communities. The BMA Global Ministry Center in Conway has received more bottled water that has been donated and would love to help distribute it to those in need. Contact the office at (501) 455-4977 or e-mail Larry Barker at larry@bmaam.com to coordinate delivery to areas in need.
The Central Baptist College varsity baseball team, along with Head Coach Aaron Brister and Pitching Coach Duffy Guyton, were at Park View on Monday, April 4 to help clean up and move everything from the building that could be saved into storage containers. Park View Pastor Brian Sheppard shared that they made quick work of all that needed to be done, and he was very thankful for their efforts. Coach Brister shared that they were glad to show the team that serving others is part of what it means to be the “hands and feet” of Jesus to those around us.
BMA Disaster Relief
The BMA Disaster Relief Ministry partner, Just the Crumbs was set up with a small trailer at Park View and began cooking to provide meals on Monday, April 3. They plan to be at Park View through Easter, then plan to have the kitchen trailer set up at Cherrywood beginning Monday, April 10 and will serve from lunch daily from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Lavon Haden shared that they are stretched thin with their volunteers since they responded to the Mississippi tornado and “have a group cooking in Amory, Miss. and a group in Letcher, Ky. providing support for God’s Pit Crew. However, we feel that God wants us to respond to Little Rock as well, and we know God will provide the help we need, if we submit to His will. So, if you feel that God is leading you to volunteer or donate, don’t ignore the feeling. We need you to help us be the hands and feet of Jesus.”
Volunteers Needed
If you can volunteer, contact Bro. Lavon at (601) 522-6055 or if you are in the Little Rock area, go to Park View and ask for Bro. Lavon. They need volunteers to begin cooking at 8 a.m. and to deliver meals to affected areas beginning at 10:30 a.m. each day.
