What is God’s Will for My Financial Life
By Steve Crawley, PhD, Executive Director • BMA Financial
Knowing the will of God for our lives is an age-old question that most of us wrestle with, sometimes for years. Yet, have you ever considered, “What is God’s will for my financial life?” Just as with the general question of God’s will for our lives, His will for our financial lives is not a mystery. In I Tim. 6:17-18 (NIV), Paul provided an answer to the question posed: “Command those who are rich in this present world…”— that would include most of us reading this article since we are all considerably wealthy by historical standards — command them not “…to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God… Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.”
God’s will for our financial lives is that we never put our hope and trust in our resources but in the Source of those blessings. Then, He desires that we use what we have to do good and be generous to those in need. Consequently, we have greater joy and contentment with the remaining resources.
