CBC PROFILE: Board of Trustee Meeting Highlights
The CBC Board of Trustees met on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18-19. The board's three standing committees (Academic, Advancement and Finance) met on Friday evening to conduct business and hear recommendations from the college administrators.
The full board convened on Saturday morning. Dr. Jeremy Langley opened the meeting with Scripture reading and prayer. All members of the Executive Leadership Team and the faculty council moderator gave reports relative to his/her area of responsibility. Then, each committee secretary reported on his/her respective committee meeting to the full board. The following are some highlights of the board meeting:
• Faculty members presented departmental assessment reports during the Academic Committee meeting;
• Heard a report from President Terry Kimbrow and Executive Vice President Dr. Jeremy Langley;
• Reaffirmed the existing CBC Mission Statement;
• Ratified action of the Property Acquisitions Committee to sell properties outside of our target area;
• Approved the following new course proposals for 2025-26 — Spiritual Formation and Discipleship, Principles of Advertising, Foundations of Rhetoric, Foundations of Digital Cinematography, Audio Production and Recording and Ethical Documentary Storytelling;
• Approved the following revised course proposals for 2025-26 — Journalism Foundations, Media Writing, Principles of Public Relations, Public Relations Writing, Public Relations Cases and Campaigns;
• Approved revised degree plans for 2025-26 — BA and BS Communication with Emphasis in Multimedia Journalism and Strategic Communication;
• Approved revised minor for 2025-26: Communication;
• Approved new certificate programs for 2025-26: Accounting, Bible, Human Resources, Leadership and Management, Ministry and Theology;
• Heard a report from Faculty Council Moderator Amber Strain;
• Heard an update on the Higher Learning Commission and CAEP;
• Heard a report on annual giving;
• Heard an update on the 2025 Scholarship Gala;
• Heard an update on fundraising for a new baseball field;
• Heard an update on housing;
• Approved a room and board increase;
• Heard a report on Bruce Hall’s historical status;
• The 2023-24 fiscal year financial report was presented during the Finance Committee meeting;
• Approved the July-September 2024 Operating Results;
• Approved the 2025 Ministers Housing Allowances;
• Heard an enrollment report;
• Approved the Nominating Committee’s recommendations for 2025 board officers as follows - Chair Kirk Shelton; Vice Chair Jake McCandless; Secretary Kellie Harper; and Assistant Secretary Kelly Williams;
• Approved the election of Terry Kimbrow as president in Executive Session;
• Recognized the outgoing board members whose terms are ending this year.

I would like to thank our four outgoing Board of Trustee members — Preston Burton, Cole Crossland, Lisa Speer and Randy Stimach — for their service to Central Baptist College. These men and women served as trustees from 2020-2024, and I cannot thank them enough.
