JOURNEY WITH JEFF: Celebrating Faithfulness

I was honored to be able to attend the retirement reception for Roger and Debbie Pearce this past Sunday afternoon. He pastored Grace Baptist Church in Russellville for the last 27 years and has been faithfully serving in the gospel ministry for over 51 years. Bro. Roger has repeatedly made it clear that he is not retiring from ministry (that’s a lifetime calling), but simply from the full-time pastoral ministry.

I have known Bro. Roger for many years, but primarily through our work together serving with the BMA Youth Camp. For as long as I can remember, he has faithfully served as the recreation director for the camp and on the camp board, most recently as the camp board chairman. I am so thankful for the faithful example he has been, not just at camp, but also as a leader in our associational work.

It reminds me of something I remind myself of frequently — God does not call us to success or failure, He calls us to be faithful and leave the rest up to Him. Bro. Roger has been faithful, and God has blessed his faithfulness. Roger and Debbie have moved to Conway and plan to join Calvary Baptist Church in Conway where their son-in-law, Danny Paul, is pastor. If you need someone to fill the pulpit, reach out to Bro. Roger at (479) 264-5423.
