JOURNEY WITH JEFF: Thankful for Encouragement

Even if we don’t admit it, we all need some encouragement from time to time. I shared last week about the loss of another church plan after many others in recent months and how the decrease in our subscriber base is an ongoing concern. Since last week’s issue, I have had friends of the Trumpet reach out in different ways with some encouragement and to let me know they are willing to do their part and asked how they can help.

This week, we received a note in the office from a church clerk to get her subscription started because she realized how behind she was on the news and knew it was important to be informed. Another long-time subscriber shared how the articles and information allow him to keep in touch and keep serving the Lord even at 80 years old! Another person that called in to share a church report said they would be sure to add their new members to their church plan as soon as they get their addresses because he read about the need for more subscribers.

I also received a message from a pastor friend who saw the note and wanted to know how he and his church could help. What I shared with him applies to anyone that would like to help. Here is what I shared:

• Since we are closing out our Special Emphasis at the end of the month, an offering would move us closer to our goal and would be appreciated.

• If your church has an active church plan, please make a push to be sure all members are added so they can be informed. As I said previously, I believe the best church member is an informed church member!

• If your church does not have an active church plan, please send a list of names and addresses to editor@baptisttrumpet.com or associateeditor@baptisttrumpet.com and we will get you set up on a two-month free trial so your members can see what they are missing.

Thank you for your encouragement and faithful support of the ministry of the Baptist Trumpet.

One More Week

We are coming down to the wire on the time when we can count receipts toward our Special Emphasis goal for the fiscal year. All offerings received by Aug. 31 will count toward our goal. The Special Emphasis funds are for things outside of the normal day-to-day operations. This year, the funds will go toward fully funding the ongoing (getting near completion) new software project, the development of new website resources and for replacing computer equipment that is near the end of its useful life.

Would you prayerfully consider helping us finish strong over the next few weeks? We are just under $3,000 away from reaching our goal!

2023 Special Emphasis • Goal — $30,000

Previous Balance (Aug. 16) $23,919.16

Phil Misenheimer $100.00

Charity Heights, Hot Springs $194.00

College View, Magnolia $3,061.91

Total $27,275.07
