Just the Crumbs Responds to Oklahoma Tornados

By Jeff Herring, Executive Editor

Just the Crumbs Ministries (JTC) is responding to the April 27-28 tornado outbreak in Oklahoma. According to National Weather Service, there were at least 25 tornadoes in the region, which covers most of Oklahoma and a part of north Texas. These are the preliminary results of the damage survey indicate one EF4, two EF2, two EF3, six EF1, three EF0 and eight other tornadoes that are still under investigation. The EF4 tornado hit Marietta and had winds between 165 and 170 mph along its 27-mile path.

JTC was on the ground in Marietta, Okla. at the Love County Fairgrounds serving meals. They fed 600-800 meals per day. The local grocery store in the area was wiped out in the storm and many homes have been without power so they lost any food they had in their freezers. JTC moved north to Sulphur, where an EF3 tornado did major damage to the downtown area. JTC is coordinating with other disaster relief groups to provide food for the workers from the different ministries who will be there to help with the recovery efforts.

Mike Angus (bromikeangus@yahoo.com) with JTC shared, “Our crews are in place and serving this hard-hit community. We are in need of #10 cans of vegetables and volunteers. The response from the Oklahoma BMA people has been great and we are very appreciative. As always, we covet your prayers and support as we minister to those with whom we come in contact. Thank you and may God bless you.”

David Langley, president of the BMA of Oklahoma (BMAO), shared, “Please call if you can help or know someone who is willing to volunteer to help with meal delivery, chain saw, tools, food kitchen worker — anything you think of can be used. The help needed is what anyone can do — prayer, conversation or deliver meals prepared by JTC. If you or someone you know could help, please call Mike Angus at (228) 669-1108 or Wayne Edgar at (580) 618-0484. Both men are on the ground and can give direction on needs. While larger towns have been focused on, these small communities are where we hope to help and make a difference.”

JTC is already looking ahead to the next place they can serve and are making plans to go to Houston, Texas to help after the devastation from the recent flooding. For more information, contact Brandy Haden at (601) 441-4586.
