JOURNEY WITH JEFF: A Busy Time of Year

      I have spent over 30 years working with students in some capacity since I surrendered to the ministry on Nov. 7, 1993. Although I am not currently “on staff” as a student pastor, I still work with our high school ministry at Antioch in Conway as a volunteer. As anyone who works in student ministry understands, this is the time of year when things get really busy — mission trips, church camps, Vacation Bible School, SOAR, etc.

      I am blessed to be able to serve as a sponsor for many of our trips throughout the year. We just returned from a mission trip to Oklahoma City, where we worked with Grace Harbor Church. It was a blessing and a reminder of why I love working with students. I was able to spend some time investing in the lives of students as we worked together in a variety of ways over the five days.

      The busy times will continue over the next few weeks. Next week (June 17-20), I will at church camp. I am the director for the BMA Youth Camp that currently meets at Budd Creek Baptist Camp in Greers Ferry. This is a camp began in 1978 and I have been honored to serve as the camp director for over 20 years. We have just under 450 campers registered to arrive on Monday. Please pray for our speaker, Chris Vines, worship leader, Doug Mickan and all those who will be at camp. Each year I tell the campers they are not there by accident, but God has brought them to camp for a purpose. Please pray for God to move in the lives of all those at camp.

Although our time of promotion is in March and April each year, we count all Special Emphasis offerings received through the end of our fiscal year (Aug. 31) toward the goal.
